Sunderland Echo Nursery School of the Year.

The Sunderland Echo has asked readers to nominate who they thought deserved a chance to win the prestigious title of The Echo’s nursery of the year 2018 and we are delighted to announce they have been nominated.

For the 1st stage of the competition readers of the Sunderland Echo can vote for the nursery by using an entry coupon which will be printed in the paper every day from Monday 26th March until Saturday 7th April 2018.

Once the voting is counted and clarified the nursery winner will be revealed.

We held a goodbye party for the children who are leaving nursery to start school in September.

The theme this year was Beauty and the Beast. The staff team worked hard to make it such a success. Children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are still talking about it!

Siblings Nursery is celebrating after achieving the education watchdog’s highest rating. Siblings Nursery on the Business & Innovation Centre, Wearfield. Sunderland, has been judged ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted.

The nursery, which cares for children aged 0-5 also offers a holiday club for up to 10 year olds is owned and ran by Joanne Anderson, a qualified, experienced and trained nursery nurse and mum to Jamie.

Joanne, said: “To be awarded Outstanding status by Ofsted in all areas is an achievement that the whole team are immensely proud of”.

“Our practitioners are extremely committed to delivering high-quality childcare and education to all children on a daily basis, always ensuring that their individual needs, as well as the needs of the whole family, are met to the highest standard.” 

Ofsted inspectors reported that staff ‘are well qualified and are extremely skilled at identifying the need for early intervention through their detailed observations of children. They work highly effectively with parents and other professionals to ensure the most effective support is provided for children who have special educational needs’.

Inspectors also observed that children are ‘extremely happy and settled at nursery and their behaviour is exemplary. Staff are exceptionally caring and sensitive in helping all children to form trusting and secure relationships. This helps to support children’s well-being’.

The report also highlights that ‘the indoor and outdoor learning environments offer a wide range of exciting and challenging learning opportunities. Children successfully explore, investigate and gain independence in their own learning’.

“The team and I are delighted that our exceptional dedication and passion have been recognised in this way,” added Joanne.
